    D - Thrombocytes

    Explanation:

Thrombocytes are the smallest cells in the blood with a diameter of 2-4μm. They do not have a nucleus and are incapable of mitosis.

They are also known as blood platelets.

Their function is to prevent and control bleeding by clotting blood which they achieve by clumping on the surface of the blood vessel after detecting an injury to it. They also contribute substances necessary for normal coagulation of blood.

Thrombocytes are produced from very large bone marrow cells called megakaryocytes and are thus comprised of its fragments.
