    The common nutrients found in the lake are nitrogen and phosphorus. If the nutrients are more than the requirement, it will boost the growth of algae and aquatic plants, as a result many aquatic organisms die due to lack of oxygen.

    Lake Okeechobee is a fresh water lake. There is an excessive amount of phosphorus found in the lake, which has caused eutrophication. The problem that is caused by an increase of nutrients which makes thick layers of algae on the top layer of the lake resulting in odor and diseases of fishes
