In a Venn diagram, the separate circles contain characteristics unique to each item being compared and the intersections contain characteristics that are common to both items being compared. This Venn diagram compares meteoroids, asteroids, and comets.

A Venn diagram has 3 intersecting circles. Top: Meteoroids circle in yellow; Left: Comets circle in blue; Right: Asteroids circle in red. Intersection of Meteoroids and Comets is green. Intersection of Meteoroids and Asteroids is orange. Intersection of Comets and Asteroids is purple. Intersection of Meteoroids, Comets, and Asteroids is brown.

    When combining more than two circles in a Venn diagram you have to actually mix in the colors where the intersections are so that you will be able to tell their differences.
