E. coli can convert glutamate to ornithine. describe the two reactions that do so.

    The conversion of glutamate to ornithine requires the use of enzymes that are produced by E. coli. Instead of going into the citric acid cycle, glutamate goes into the urea cycle and converts into ornithine. Mycelial pads of the ornithine is supplied the microorganism.
