An independent variable is a controlled variable while the dependent is the result of the independent variable.

    Ex.

If I increase the height of the ramp (i. v.), then the car will go faster (d. v.) because I raised the ramp.

On a graph the indecent variable would be in the y axis and the dependent on the x axis
