    If a scientist studying the fossils of a specific species had a hypothesis other than what was currently accepted, the steps that should of been taken the alternative hypothesis considered would be "if an alternative hypnosis sounds plausible, it could be used in place of the original hypothesis." This will make the correct answer to be C.
