    Well that would be somewhat correct ... however not all organism mate and produce offspring, most higher orangism can only reproduce through sexual means. However some organisms don't rely on mating, and can merely split themselves in half. Starfish, for example can produce another of themselves when a limb is cut. This is called Asexual reproduction.
