    The functions of the red and yellow bone are as under:

    Red bone marrow are a large portion of the red and white platelets and platelets themselves are created in the red bone marrow. Hemopoetic division of stem cells happens. the red color of the Hemoglobin imparts its color to the bone marrow as a result of which it appears red. Yellow bone marrow produces ligament and bone. The yellow color of this bone marrow is due to the presence of a fat containing acrotoid pigment in it.
