On the surface of the Earth, it is approximately 6,200 miles from the equator to the North Pole or South Pole. How many miles is it between two parallels 1 degree apart?

    There is 360 degrees in between extreme poles ...

    So, distance between 360 degrees = 6200 miles

    distance between 1 degree will be = 6200/360 miles

    =17.22 miles
