Hyperkalemia meens that the potassium levels in the blood is more than the upper limit (>5 mmol). Glucose and insulin can be used to treat hyperkalemia because insulin promotes the uptake of glucose in the muscle and fat tissues and in the uptake of glucose, there is also uptake of potassium from the blood stream eventually normalizes the levels of potassium.
