Cyclopropane is a highly strained molecule because the bond angle of cyclopropane are 60, leading the angle strain. Cyclopropane is a cycloalkane which has the formula of C3H6 where the carbon atoms are bonded with each other forming a ring with bond angles of 60 degrees. The small size of the structure causes great strain the molecule. Also, there is another factor causing it to be more strained called the torsional strain. This strain is due to the so called eclipsed conformation of the hydrogen atoms. This substance is classified as highly flammable due to its instability but it not considered as explosive.
