    I'm not sure what this is asking exactly but certain species value quantity over quality when it comes to offsprings. This means that they'll produce a lot of young. While many of them die, a few survive to continue the species. Other species tend to have few offspring that are stronger and more likely to survive. This can be influenced by habitat and resources as well as other features.
