Which statement is true about flood risk in the United States? Floods happen every few years and are usually only mild. Floods happen every year, but they are usually only damaging once a decade or so. Floods are common but not as frequent as other natural disasters like tornadoes and earthquakes. Floods are the country's number one natural disaster and happen throughout the country every year.
