What types of organisms would you expect to see in an area that recently experienced a volcanic eruption?

Any organism that lives off of bacteria and thrive in energy-rich chemical compounds transported by the hydrothermal fluids. These are the only organisms on the earth that do not depend on the sun for energy. Often hydrothermal vents release hot mineral-laden water when volcanic activity increases. The temperature is typically around 660°F.
