What is the role of internal feedback mechanisms in the maintenance of homeostasis?

    Homeostasis is maintained through both negative and positive feedback loops. Negative feedback loops change variables back to their original state (insulin controlling blood sugar). Positive feedback loops work to enhance an original stimulus (platelets attracting more platelets to clot a wound).
