Plasmids are small loops of DNA that have a role of passing genes towards another bacteria for characteristics such as resistance to a particular condition. Therefore if the plate contained a drug or a substance that affects a bacteria, and this bacteria has a plasmid from another, the bacteria would still be present and there would be little or no clear zone as the bacteria would have developed resistance towards the substance coated on the plate
