Nutrients is essential for the body to sustain its function. However, if the body has insufficient vitamins, which is an essential nutrient, a health problem will surely rise. One condition is vitamin D deficiency, it is often associated with rickets, a disease resulting to fractures and deformities because of the softening of bones in children. Vitamin D plays a role in calcium absorption and building strong bones. Management of this include drinking milk and eating dairy products. Another disease is Beri-Beri, a deficiency in vitamin B1 or thiamine, which cause polyneuritis or nerve inflammation that can permanently damage the neurons resulting to inability to perform even simple task. This can be prevented with eating food with high thiamine content or by taking Vitamin B1 supplement. Moreover, vitamin deficiency anemia is a common deficiency due to lack of red blood cells that could be linked to the deficiency of B12, folate and vitamin C. A person may experience fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness and weight loss. Nevertheless, this can easily be treated with correct diet and iron supplements.
