C: Recording the spread of the seafloor in the mid-Atlantic region.

This describes a method in studying plate movements

    Explanation:

Seafloor spreading is the 'process' by which oceanic crusts are formed as a result of volcanoes. Then these crusts slowly drift away from the edge/ridge. It usually occurs at mid-ocean edges.

When plates move, they collide. Because of these collisions volcanoes and earthquakes occur. Volcanoes occur when one plate sinks under another plate. This allows the lava to get inside the plates and volcano occurs after the build-up of this magma or lava. Earthquakes are caused when two plates collide and slide with each other. Thus, Option C is the correct answer as plate movements eventually cause se floor spreading.
