    Explanation:

    The nervous system is composed of two types of cell; the glial cells and the neurons. Among these two, the neurons are central to the nervous system because the are the functional units of the system Glial cells are supportive in function. The conduction of nerve impulse is carried out by neurons while the glial cells nourish and insulate the neurons. The neurons are incapable of division so once the neurons are damaged they are not replaced by new neurons. However the glial cells are capable of division and the voids created due to the damage to the neurons are filled up by the glial cells.
