    I don't know how scientific exploration would lead to a social imbalance - it would not do so in a direct regular way, so this answer is false (and d together with it)

    Now, both a) and c) are true to some extent, but the question asks about advancements that benefit society and c) talks of a negative influence.

    So the correct answer is a) !
