A distraught patient is admitted to the emergency department with symptoms of palpitations, tachycardia, chest pain, and shortness of breath that started 30 minutes ago. the physical examination reveals no physiologic basis for the symptoms. which diagnosis is most likely?

    It most likely is a heart murmur. Heart murmurs are caused by turbulent flow of blood through the heart. If it is an innocent heart murmur, it is not potentially dangerous. A heart murmur may indicate a structural problem with the heart such as abnormal valves.
