Connective tissue provides support, transport, connection and storage within a body. There are six major types of connective tissue, including loose connective tissue, dense connective tissue, bone, cartilage, blood and lymph. regularly-arranged fibrous connective tissues are found in areas of the body where stress occurs from all directions, such as the dermis of the skin. Regular fibrous connective tissue is found in tendons (which connect muscles to bones) and ligaments (which connect bones to bones). Connective tissue has three main components: cells, fibers, and ground substance. Together the ground substance and fibers make up the extracellular matrix. Connective tissue is classified into two subtypes: soft and specialized connective tissue

Special connective tissue consists of reticular connective tissue, adipose tissue, cartilage, bone, and blood. Other kinds of connective tissues include fibrous, elastic, and lymphoid connective tissues.

    Explanation:

Major functions of connective tissue include: 1) binding and supporting, 2) protecting, 3) insulating, 4) storing reserve fuel, and 5) transporting substances within the body. Connective tissues can have various levels of vascularity. Cartilage is avascular, while dense connective tissue is poorly vascularized.
