Explain how a longleaf pine tree might be more likely to survive a forest fire than a deciduous tree, such as a maple or oak tree

    A longleaf pine tree is capable of retaining more water than the other types of trees. As such, it would take a larger scale fire to destroy the tree. Depending on the quality of the wildfire, and the burn rate, it has a slightly better chance of surviving than the others.
