The testes are contained within the scrotum, which is located outside of the body cavity. Why is this location important? A) It allows for mixing of sperm and urine.     It is about 3deg cooler than inside the body. The testicles work much better at regulated temperatures. The scrotum works to pull the testicles closer to the body when they need warmth and relaxes to allow them more space when they need to be cooler.
