Fenestrated capillaries are capillaries that have pores known as fenestrae. Fenestrated capillaries in the glomerulus are surrounded by special cells podocytes or pedicels with a function to that allow small molecules and limited amounts of protein to diffuse.
The glomerulus is a network of capillaries through which the blood is filtered and it is located at the beginning of a nephron in the kidney.
