    Explanation:

    Furosemide has a diuretic and antihypertensive effect, and its onset occurs about 60 minutes after administration of the product.

    As with most diuretics, furosemide has as its basic action increased excretion of sodium chloride (salt) in the kidneys.

    Administration at normal levels of furosemide does not cause dramatic increases in urine excretion. However, if used at high doses, furosemide may stimulate the excretion of up to 25% to 35% of all filtered kidney sodium.

    In addition to sodium, furosemide also stimulates the excretion of other electrolytes, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.
