Strike-slip fault results in the displacement of rock.

According to the geological study 'fault' is a curvy fracture in the crust of Earth whose compressional force results in displacements of the rock opposite to the fractured side. The classification of the faults is dependent on their angle and displacement.

The strike slip fault is the result of horizontal compression and it results in the horizontal displacement of the rock. An example of such a fault is of San Andreas Fault that took place in the 1906, earthquake of San Francisco.
