    Chorionic Villus Sampling and Amniocentesis

    Explanation:

    Ultrasound Imaging is used to detect the genetic disorders or syndrome of the foetus. It involves the use high frequency sound waves. The ultrasounds of first, second and third trimester provides the information about any abnormalities of the foetus.

    Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and Amniocentesis is the method that allows the examination of chromosomes of the foetus. In CVS, small amount of placenta is taken as a sample whereas in amniocentesis, small amount of amniotic fluid is taken and examined.
