In a forest, lynx prey on rodents and birds in the summer. But because of rising temperatures, the birds in the forest have migrated to a cooler place. What effect will this migration have on the population of the rodents? Because there are fewer birds, the lynx will prey on rodents, leading to a in their population. This scenario depicts competition.

    The lynx won't be able to eat birds, so it will eat rodents instead. The rodent population will go down until the birds come back. The rodents may even go extinct. Because rodents eat grass, the growth of grass will go up if they are extinct.
