Give one example of a population study where you would want the tags to stay on for more than one year.

    You could do a 1 year (or more) experiment on fruit flies or other fast breeding animals (all are from the same species though), which are located in different geographic areas (I. e. One colony in a dark area, one is a flat etc.) and in the end, they will have evolved and breed only with their own colony.
