The nucleus contain chromatin which has DNA inside it that passes down its genetics from one generation to the next. It's main function is to control the movement of the cell (basically like the brain of the cell). Without the nucleus in an animal cell or eukaryotic cell it will die as the cells do not know what to do and there wouldn't be any cell division.
