Why can oxygen diffuse across a cell membrane but a protien cannot?

a. oxygen is polar unlike proteins

    The answer is D. oxygen is smaller then proteins.

    I think the answer is D because since it's smaller it is easier to get pass the cell membrane proteins is bigger so it's harder
