    You know that it takes many passes through the liver for a digoxin dose to be metabolized. Although low-er drugs do not undergo much first pass hepatic metabolism after absorption eventually they can be completely metabolized by the liver. In addition, a prodrug such as the blood pressure medication enalapril vasotec must be bioactivated in the liver through phase 1 metabolism.
