Fungi attack will slower the growth of a tree and sometimes lead to its death.

    Explanation:

Fungus attack on fruits infects it and causes rotting of the fruit generally. It can sometimes attack the tree as well. A kind of fungus named apple scab harms the crab apple tree eventually leading to its death.

Such attacks cause velvet like spots on leaves and gradually spread to the fruit and infect it. Black spots then can be visible in the fruit. The shoot fungus causes the tree to die attacking its leaves.
