In forensics, DNA fingerprinting is a technique that shows the genetic makeup of an organism. This method is effective to look for criminals. The DNA of the suspects is compared to the DNA found at the crime scene.

DNA fingerprinting is also an effective technique to identify parents of a newborn or lost child. The DNA of the child will be more similar to the parents than other people.

The method of DNA fingerprinting is very accurate and is now being used in various medicinal purposes.
