Hydro means coming from "Water" so hydroelectric is when water is collected behind a dam. The collected water then is channeled through pipe and turns big electric turbines as the weight of water and gravity pulls the water down stream. A famous example of hydroelectrical power generation is Hoover dam in Nevada.

    The answer is water.
