If it is a plant without fruit/vegtables that grow on it, it would be mature when it stops growing. If the plant were to grow some kind of food product, the number of product it grows would slowly increase until it is mature, then stay relatively the same for a period of time until it gets old and the amount of fruits/vegetables it grew would decrease as it begins to die.
