Do you expect the pI for the sickle-cell β-globin to be higher or lower than the pI for wild-type β-globin? Explain.

    The sickle cell β-globin contains more negative charge than that of wild-type β-globin due to the mutation in HBB gene. The means that it' requires a higher basic level of pH than that of wild-type β-globin to reach it's pI.

    So, the sickle cell β-globin has a higher pI than that of wild-type β-globin.
