Hibernation is a process by which the cold blooded animals go for a long sleep to protect themselves from cold temperature outside. The cold blooded animals do not maintain their body temperature so they go for hibernation.

During hibernation period, the cold blooded animals depend on external heating sources to maintain their body temperature. These animals eat less during hibernation because they need less energy for survival. They bury themselves in mud or under the soil and appear almost dead.
