Skin is an organ because it is made of tissues which are responsible for performing a specific function. The main function of skin is that it regulates body temperature. The skin consist of small pores from where sweat is excreted. When the body temperature increases above the optimum level, the body opens these pores and excess heat is removed with water in the form of sweat. Skin also excrete excess salts through the pores present on the skin surface.
