What statements are true: Select all that apply. Three different RNA polymerases in eukaryotes transcribe different classes of genes. Eukaryotic RNA polymerase II requires general transcription factors for initiation of transcription. Intrinsic termination in prokaryotes occurs when the rho termination factor interacts with the growing RNA transcript. Since prokaryotes lack a nucleus, translation can begin before the transcript is fully transcribed.

The first and the last statement are true.

    Explanation:

The first statement is true as eukaryotic RNA polymerase II needs five general transcription factors for the beginning of transcription. These are TBP (TATA-binding factor associated proteins), TFIIB, TFIIH, TFIIE, and TFIID.

The second statement is false as intrinsic termination relies upon the generation of stem-loop composition that along with a protein combines tightly with this region, and makes the RNA polymerase to halt.

The third statement is true as prokaryotes are devoid of the nucleus, and their mRNA transcript is devoid of introns. Thus, the process of translation and transcription are coupled, and translation begins even prior to the completion of transcription.
