The mastectomy or the removal of breast lumps can cause Lymphedema.

During the surgery, some of the Lymph nodes in the under arms are also removed. The removal of the lymph nodes compromises the lymphatic system.

The Lymphedema is a condition, in which the fluid retention takes place in the lymph nodes. This condition is mainly caused by the compromised lymphatic system, which occurs due to the removal of lymph nodes during mastectomy or lumpectomy.
