    Explanation:

    The side groups of the amino acids play a critical role in the folding of the polypeptide into a functional protein. This is because the side groups have different properties especially charges (that are also dependent on pH). During folding their interactions result in either a stable or unstable conformation. Stable confirmation is naturally preferred and determine how the protein will form. For example, amino acids with polar side groups will mainly be found on the outside of the protein while the ones with neutral ones embedded inside the protein. High temperatures disrupt these bonds and interactions and denature the protein.
