    The mesentery is a membranous tissue that serves to hold the organs in the body in a specific location. When hollow organs are stretched, there is stretching of the mesentery as well. Overstretching of mesentery always results in pain.

    Hollow organs such as stomach and ureter can be extended by stretching of the muscles present in their walls. However, their ove-rdistension (over enlargement) results from over-stretching of the muscles of their wall which in turn results in pain.
