    Carbon fixation

    Explanation:

Ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBisCo) is an enzyme which catalyses the reaction in which Ribulose bisphosphate (RuBp), a 5 carbon compound reacts with carbon dioxide in the Calvin cycle or light-independent reactions. The reaction results in a 6 carbon compound. In the Calvin cycle, RuBisCo is regenerated from Glycerate-3-phosphate, a three carbon intemediate. In the absence of RuBisCo, fixation of carbon dioxide will not happen, thus carbohydrate will not formed.
