I believe that the Placenta is formed in part from the inner lining of the uterus and in part from other membranes. The placenta acts as a connection between the fetus and the mother; it contains the fetal placenta which develops from the same blastocyst that forms the fetus, and the maternal placenta which develops from the maternal uterine tissue.
