The nurse should educate the patient that just because the patient has experienced of not having regular bowel movements, it is already applicable to take laxatives which is wrong. It could cause side effects and worse problems. That is why the patient should undergo to a check up and ask the doctor of a treatment and whether it is advisable to use laxatives under the problem that he or she is under in.
