    The spine of a human is S shaped as opposed to that of a chimpanzee, that is C shaped. In humans, this shape allows for the weight of the chest to rest upon the pelvis. Conversely, the C shaped spine of apes allows for the weight to be forward which is better for four-legged locomotion.
