    She is probably at risk of infection because for twenty four hours during labor plus potentially the 20 hours before labor, she was exposed to fluids, as was her baby, since the membranes ruptured. That amount of time exposed to anything beyond the barrier of the membranes would surely open the door to a variety of infections for both mother and baby.
