    indicative of gram-negative bacterial infection

    Explanation:

The structure of endotoxin contains Lippo polysaccharides so they are called LPS and are the component of the gram-negative bacterial cell wall and is not found in the cell wall of fungus or gram-positive bacteria.

The lipid A portion of LPS in gram-negative bacteria provides the virulency to endotoxin when the cell wall is disrupted and these endotoxins are resistant to high temperature and can withstand the temperature of the autoclave.

The presence of endotoxin in blood can cause fever, endotoxin shock, shivering and other serious complications. So the presence of endotoxin indicates gram-negative bacterial infection.
